The Westmont Family Counseling Ministries holds its annual fundraising dinner on Oct. 2, raising funds to help underwrite counseling for people who are unable to afford it.

Our theme this year is Fast Forward: Facing the Future with Optimism. Our speaker, John Maketa, will explore the common sense, but very counter-intuitive and fascinating realm of demography! His years of counting people – including patterns in fertility, migration, aging, immigration, and dying – have enabled him to forecast societal, political, economic, cultural, and commercial phenomena with uncanny accuracy. Come hear John Maketa use demographics to explain why we should be optimistic about our country’s future.

John Maketa is a fellow and advisory board member of The Work Institute and a guest lecturer at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. A bestselling author, Maketa is a past participant at the Global Digital Innovation Initiative at the United Nations General Assembly.

Tickets are $50, and may be obtained through WFCM by calling 536-0798. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 5:30, followed by dinner and the presentation at 6:30.
